Cloverfield
6 / 10

seems that in recent years, the golden rule that Hollywood has taken to break the bank the box office is tormenting New York City. After seeing it flooded and then frozen ("The Day After Tomorrow)" or more recently desertified after the nth epidemic of deadly virus ("I Am Legend") here is that Cloverfield brings back the catastrophic OA ra destruction and a half without stopping by the giant (and beyond) Emerging monsters do not know from where (water?) committed to mangle Manhattan (the effect of the decapitation scene Statue of Liberty) and its inhabitants. In truth, the idea is a bit 'that already seen in "Godzilla" monster of a few years ago to rein in the city, except the complete lack of comic moments and a happy ending. The film is presented to the public as a document of the department of defense on the facts that occurred in NYC: This is a home movie that describes the seven hours (we do not know if it lasted more) of the attack on the city. The whole story is told through the camera of a member of a group of friends intent on celebrating the departure of one of them and when he starts the havoc that will be your camera to take "live" various events in general, creating the desired effect of making live voltage to viewers as if they were on the street, although in many scenes of the escape effect "Blair Witch Project" cause seasickness than anything else. The title Cloverfield is the name given military operation, perhaps referring to the place of Central Park where the camera is situated and which represents one of the last pictures before an abrupt end when (as expected), the signal just stops for the disappointment of the spectators .
Apart from the first twenty minutes, a bit 'slow but necessary to prepare the dynamics between the various actors, the film appears to be well managed and able to maintain the tension till the end with twists interesting to raise the pace. We will not be Oscar scent but if you are looking for an hour and half-relaxation Cloverfield is not the right answer, especially if, like me, you live in Manhattan ...
